Meine erste Saison in der MLS liegt nun hinter mir und kurz vor dem Rückflug ist ein guter Zeitpunkt für einen kurzen Rückblick. Es war eine sehr schöne Zeit, mit vielen interessanten Erfahrungen. Ich habe mich hier sehr wohl gefühlt, freue mich aber jetzt natürlich auch total auf meine Zeit in Bremen.
Neben einer Menge toller persönlicher Erfahrungen bin ich auch sportlich sehr zufrieden. In den deutschen Medien habe ich heute öfter gelesen „Frings kehrt nach enttäuschender Saison zurück“. Der Meinung bin ich überhaupt nicht. Als ich hier anfing, hatte Toronto nicht nur viele Punkte Rückstand auf die Play Offs, sondern auch bereits bis zu vier Spiele mehr absolviert als die Konkurrenz und war Tabellenletzter. Seither hat sich das Team nicht nur spielerisch stark entwickelt, sondern wir haben auch eine gute Bilanz, dazu mehr Tore geschossen und weniger rein bekommen als zuvor, waren einmal mehrere Wochen ungeschlagen und haben sowohl Gruppenphase als auch K.O.-Runde in der hiesigen Champions League erreicht – erstmals in der jungen Geschichte des Vereins! Persönlich lief es für mich mit der Wahl zum wertvollsten Spieler in fast allen Spielen, der Wahl zum Kapitän und den Berufungen ins MLS Team des Monats auch gut. Am wichtigsten ist jedoch die Führung und Entwicklung der jungen Spieler im Team – und das passt und ich denke, wir haben in der nächsten Saison eine gute Chance, in die Play Offs zu kommen. Das ist alles andere als enttäuschend und ich finde es schade, wenn es in den Medien nicht wenigstens objektiv gewürdigt wird. Man muss das alles ein bisschen ins Verhältnis setzen – es ist halt noch eine junge Liga – aber sehr ambitioniert.
So, jetzt geht’s bald los und dann werde ich mir erst einmal eine schöne Zeit in Deutschland machen. Ich freue mich schon auf meine Familie, Freunde, auf Bremen und auch mal wieder auf ein Werderspiel im Stadion!

Zu deinem Post kann ich nur sagen:Recht hast du.Ich hab an anderer Stelle schon mal geschrieben,daß es einige von uns gibt,die sich durch dich oder wegen dir etwas intensiver mit der MLS beschäftigt haben und schlechter Fußball wird bei euch nicht gespielt!
Ich wage jetzt allerdings mal zu behaupten,daß es in Toronto auch an einem ganz gewissen Spieler liegt,der viel Erfahrung und die Fähigkeit zu führen mitbringt;-)
Mach dir eine ganz tolle Zeit zu Hause,vielleicht läuft man sich ja auch mal wieder über den Weg und dann viel Glück für die nächsten Ziele!
Kannst Du Dir nicht so eine Erlaubnis wie Beckham holen und uns die nächsten Spiele wieder mehr Stabilität in der Abwehr verschaffen??

Es ist genauso,wie Du es schreibst…Was Ihr erreicht habt ist doch wohl alles andere als schlecht und nach einer solchen Aufholjagt,können sowohl Du als auch Dein Team sehr zufrieden sein mit Eurer Leistung.Wie die deutschen Medien sind,weißt Du ja noch aus Deiner aktiven Laufbahn in der Bundesliga.
Genieße Deine Zeit in Bremen und erhole Dich gut…Nächste Saison werdet Ihr dann gleich zu Anfang richtig durchstarten und am Ende dann hoffentlich Schale und Pokale in die Höhe strecken.

konnte mir anfangs nicht vorstellen, dass dich Toronto auch sportlich glücklich machen kann. Aber du scheinst dort viel von dem gefunden zu haben, was du dir gewünscht hast. schön, dass Du wieder in die Heimat kommst! Ich finde, dass es für Dich in Toronto nicht nur gut lief, sondern sehr, sehr gut, Qualität setzt sich eben durch und der Toronto FC ist mit Sicherheit sehr froh Dich zu haben. Ich habe mit Interesse und so gut es ging die Spiele oder zumindest die Ergebnisse von Toronto verfolgt und finde Ihr könnt stolz auf das Erreichte sein. Die deutsche Presse, ja, der geht das natürlich alles viel zu langsam und da mach Dir man auch keine Gedanken drüber. Genieße die Zeit in Bremen, Deine Töchter werden mit Sicherheit ihren Papa erstmal mit Beschlag belegen, also viel Spaß.

ich reise (und arbeite mich) gerade mit meiner Freundin 1 Jahr durch Kanada. Gibt es VIELLEICHT die Möglichkeit für 2 fußballbegeisterte Nordlichter (und selbst aktive Fußballer/in) einen kleinen Job beim Toronto FC zu bekommen. Kannst du uns da weiterhelfen? Würde mich freuen von dir zu hören.
